Joy & Pain

Thanks to Hank and his rocking ride's new system equipped with satelite radio I have the song Joy & Pain by Rob Base & DJ E-Z Rock from the Backspin channel stuck in my head! I'd say it's pretty relevant to what I am going through right now.

Joy: Not feeling bloated after every meal is wonderful, I never feel stuffed or "bad" full, but can eat as much as I'd like!
Pain: Not having a glass of wine on a Friday night at the end of a work week. Really wishing they would've kept with the original allowed "3 glasses of red wine a week"...I mean its good for the heart, right?? :)
Sunshine: Already starting to see changes in my body composition and I think overall, if I have enough food, my energy levels are increasing.
Rain: No pizza, no mac & cheese, no quessadillas...for my friends and loved ones who know me best, need I say more?

Meals: Breakfast was a smoothie- same recipe as yesterday- with 1/2 sausage. Lunch was spinach, red peppers, bacon & chicken- my portion size was too small, I was starving and probably ate way too many almonds and banana chips with my apple during afternoon snack time. Had a post workout shake after the workout- added strawberries. Drinks were 1/2 cup of black coffee, herbal tea, water, unsweet black iced tea.

Dinner was awesome, Hank and I wanted to treat ourselves, which isn't easy on this nutrition plan, but it is doable. The last thing I wanted to do tonight was cook- so we went to Blue Plate and both ordered the same exact thing: An 8oz ribeye (Hank and I think it was closer to a 10oz) fat and all, with fresh fruit and grilled green beans. I think the green beans may have been lightly tossed in butter, however I'm too worried because it was not a huge amount if so, and like Lissa said- butter may be dairy, but its mostly fat. Plus I don't lose any points. I meant to take a before picture, but all I got was the after-- Hank got this snapshot as the waitress was taking them away!

Workout at Chattanooga's CrossFit Brigrade was pretty good today. It sounds so easy- as many rounds as possible in 20 minutes: 400 meter runs and 21 deadlifts at about/ little less than 50% of max. I got in 5 rounds plus a 170ish M run. Deadlifts are tough and can take a toll-- and its tough to do them fast! Everyone hit the floor at the end of 20 minutes. Then rounds of shoulder presses- 3 @70 %, 4 @80% and I got 4 @90%.

Today, I learned how much I look forward to a glass of wine at the end of the workweek and crave the mac & cheese that I typically order to accompany my ribeye, but also that I can live without them. They are simple joys of life I look forward to enjoying in about 5 weeks, but they aren't everything!

I am grateful for the "grateful walk" I learned from the book, "The Energy Bus." Today- when I was working on some tedious planning, I decided to take a short walk to thank God for blessings of the day- the little things that really matter. I was able to jump in to finish my work the last hour of the day. If you are stressed at work or need a break-- try taking a grateful walk, let me know how it goes for you!

Enjoy your Friday.
